A quick background on my education/experience: I graduated from IU-Bloomington in 2016 with a B.S. in Kinesiology, majoring in Exercise Science and minoring in Psychology and Medical Sciences. A few months later, I became a board certified exercise physiologist. I spent a few months working as a personal trainer at a corporate gym before I joined IU Health in the Heart Station at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. After 10 months of cardiac surveillance, I was eager to be moved into non-invasive cardiac stress testing. A year later, I got a position in the cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) lab and not longer after, became Team Lead of Exercise Physiology, where I was really able to hone my skills as an exercise physiologist. I invested in a metabolic analyzer & became a USA Triathlon Certified Coach and in 2019, as I had recently discovered my love for endurance sports & knew I wanted to specialize in them + cardiometabolic analysis. In April 2021, after 4 amazing years with IU Health & learning more than I could have ever asked for, my wife and I moved across the country to Chandler, AZ where I have been building KP3 Coaching ever since. Over the last 10 years, I have worked with thousands of people - from the sickest of the sick, to the most elite of the elite, and everyone in between.
A quick background on my athletic career: Although I played baseball my entire childhood through sophomore year of high school, I was never in great shape and was always the rather chunky & slow guy up until freshman year of high school, which is when I dropped 35 pounds and started taking weight training (s/o Coach A…you’re a legend!!!) and running short distances rather regularly to stay in shape. I tore my ACL & meniscus as a freshman at IU and had two surgeries in 3 months. After the second, I made it a goal to be ready for baseball tryouts the following fall, about 9 months away. This lit a fire under my ass to rehab my knee like a madman and then get into the best shape I’d ever been in. I was cleared for tryouts 7 months later and tried-out on the brand-new (at the time) Bart Kaufman Field. I didn’t make the cut, but I was there, I was in shape, and I played my heart out. Then I picked up cycling and the obsession for fitness REALLY started. I was involved with the Little 500 for a couple of years and I just loved the feeling of pushing my limits on the bike. This led to numerous triathlons, half- and full-marathons, long-distance bike rides, etc.... Now, I’m building a hybrid-athlete type of fitness by doing a lot of functional-strength work with kettlebells & weight vests, all while maintaining my aerobic endurance by running, hiking and/or cycling every other day.
